New DNR Outdoor Skills Coordinator looking for Shooting Range Program Specialist

Hello!

My name is Spencer Jost, and I am the new Outdoor Skills Trainer for the Southeast Region of the state. I am excited to work with all the wonderful instructors in this region, and I’m sure I will get the opportunity to meet you soon!

I am still training and working closely with Kim Cooley (South Central Region OST) who was filling in and covering the Southeast region.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns in the meantime, feel free to reach out and I’ll do what I can to help as I transition into this position.

Additionally-

I am excited to share the announcement for the open recruitment for the Shooting Range Program Specialist. This is a new position within the Recreational Safety and Enforcement Section.

This position is responsible for the management of eleven state-owned shooting ranges and shooting ranges that are developed in the future. Duties related to this include developing and implementing standard operating procedures, maintenance schedules and safety initiatives, scheduling range use requests, coordinating events, and managing volunteers and capital development projects. This position will field calls from the public regarding shooting ranges and coordinate with law enforcement, organizations, and citizens for use of the ranges.
